Spring Anime continues with another series premiere with "Kirio Fan Club." I read the synopsis. Which reads as Aimi and Nami don't have much in common except for one thing: Kirio, the boy they both have a crush on! I went into the show expecting a fun, over-the-top school romcom twist with two best friends. Aimi and Nami are both head over heels for the same classmate, Ken Kirio, turning their daily lives into a nonstop obsession fest. The concept of the show is great, but it leans into the absurd, which is entertaining. The girls start plotting schemes and elaborate approaches, and have debates on like how his farts, playing games over who gets to return his forgotten jacket, and even doing nightly rituals to try to manifest dreams about him. It's taking the parasocial fan energy and making it into a love-sided triangle that Ken doesn't even know he is a part of.

The setup, characters, and story are good, but the execution just didn't land for me. The pacing dragged hard from the gags and conversations stretched out way longer than the jokes can support, turning what should have been quick, punchy into something repetitive, tedious scenes that made it feel slow. In the classroom scene between Aimi and Nami, I was begging for a cut, but they just kept going and going. It's a fresh premise with some wild potential (especially once the girls' real dynamics start peeking through). Still, Episode 1 spends too much time lingering in the same delusional loops without enough payoff or escalation to keep it engaging.
Final Rating: If you're craving something light and unhinged, consider checking out the episode. Although this one didn't quite click, it's still worthy of adding to your list for later.
