Here is my review of Driving is Hard back when I was on Otakus and Geeks. Driving Is Hard takes one of the simplest ideas imaginable and turns it into an exercise in patience, precision, and controlled frustration. Developed by Elegant Horse Studios, the game puts you behind the wheel of a bathtub on wheels as Jeff, sending you across increasingly ridiculous obstacle courses where one bad move can erase several minutes of progress. The physics are intentionally difficult, so learning how much acceleration to use, when to brake, and how to position the bathtub becomes the entire challenge. I definitely had those moments where I wanted to blame the game after a terrible fall, only to realize that I was the one who made the mistake. That is where Driving Is Hard works best. Every successful climb feels earned, and there is something genuinely satisfying about finally overcoming an obstacle that had been giving you trouble.

What surprised me most was that there is actually a story underneath all of the bathtub madness.

Jeff's journey deals with self doubt, family struggles, and learning to believe in himself, giving the game considerably more personality than I expected from something that initially looks like a goofy physics based rage game. The colorful presentation fits the absurd concept nicely, while the constant cycle of driving, falling, learning, and trying again makes this one of those games that can be hilarious one minute and infuriating the next. It certainly will not be for everyone, especially if losing progress drives you crazy, but if you enjoy games that force you to master their mechanics through repetition, Driving Is Hard is a fun, strange, and surprisingly heartfelt challenge.
